Summer Kickoff with My Peeps

My sweet husband has to work on Memorial Monday so we decided to celebrate on Sunday.  We took the Grands to the swimming pool for a day of fun!  And what a day it was.  Noah showed off by not only floating on the water but also by swimming under the water!  I told him he was a little fish.  Ella loved the pool.  It was just the right depth- she could touch and walk around to her hearts delight.

The Evolution of Art

I love it when a piece of art just evolves.  that's exactly what happened with this piece.  i started out wanting to play around with my copic markers..so i looked for a stamp that would fit the bill and i decided to use the bunny stamp from the march sotm.  after coloring it, i trimmed it and inked the edges.  I thought the colors went well with the mayberry paper pack so i embossed a piece of the cardstock and then cut strips of the b&t paper to lay on top of that.  i used my cricut to cut out the flower design that i layered under the bunny.  i wanted to do a little cluster on the piece so i used my scallop punch to punch the scallop and the connections stamp set to create the emblem.  I then stamped the sentiment and wala!   wonderful art! 
I also used two of my favorite techniques on this piece.  inking and distressing the edges.  i can hardly do a peice without that added touch.

Paper Piecing With Stamps

If you are coming from Melissa Robinson's Blog, you are on the right track!  This technique is highlighted with the Sophia paper packet in the Idea Book but you will find variations for its’ use through this hop. 

For this project, I used the elements included in CTMH's Sweetheart Workshop on the Go.

Here's a close of up the layering technique-

First I stamped the butterfly in black ink on colonial white card stock, then i stamped the butterfly again onto a piece of B&T paper and cut out the inner portion of the wings.  I then painted the pieces with a coat of Liquid Glass.  After it dried I used pop dots to attach it to the butterfly wings.

I used the same layering technique on the hearts I used for the title block.  I stamped the letters with Cocktail Alphabet

Special Moments Like These

Has anyone ever asked you why you scrapbook?  I have had people ask me that and for me it's all about preserving memories and having a way of communicating a little of myself to future generations...plus it lots of fun! 
Yesterday was a prime example of why I scrapbook.  I went to my grandson's, Noah,  first t-ball game of the year!  Not only was that scrap worthy but there was something else going on behind the scenes that not many people who were there may have been aware of...it was the first game that my son and husband coached together.  It brings tears to my eyes and joy to my heart just to think about it.

My mind flashes back about 15 years to a time when David (my husband) and Josh (my son)  were geared up and ready to go to play ball...so many memories come to mind - Josh's first home run, their first championship game, and so many others!  It was a time in their lives when they became so close and formed a bond between father and son that will never be broken.

Now I get to witness that bond continue as they together coach another generation.  I am so thankful for the memories of the past and the new memories our family is making for the future.  I hope today you can create a few cherished memories of your own.
