It's Not What You Know but...

Have you ever heard the phrase- It's not what you know but who you know-?  Well, that has certainly held true for me in scrapbooking and papercrafting.  I have been so blessed in my 10+ years of doing this to be surrounded by amazingly creative women who are a source of creative inspiration.  Through thier willingness to share ideas with me, they leave a bit of themselves on each of my pages.

Take this layout, for instance.  There was so much inspiration going on here it was ooozing.  First of all the pic themselves inspired me.  During my DH vacation we took our grands to the zoo.  He doesn't get an opportunity to do that with us very often and this was the first time he had been.  It was a wonderful day and I was able to capture it with lots of pics.

The basic design of the layout was inspired by CTMH's how-to book Reflections.  My CTMH upline, Joy,  first introduced this to me and now I don't leave home without it!  Love it.  It's chalked full of ideas and inspiration.
Take a look at the techniques feautured on the page.  Joanne B.  taught me how to make this little bird.  All the body parts are peiced together from a peice of patterned paper. The beak and the tail are from a flower design on the paper.  So cute and simple!
The same day, Michelle C. taught me how to make this scalloped flower.  Just use our scalloped punch
to punch out a few scalloped circles.  (I think this flower has about 5).  Stack the flowers and insert and brad in the middle.  Cut along the scallops (petals) to add a bit of depth and interest.  Ink around the edges and then use your fingers to fluff the flower up a bit.  Love it!
This little guy was colored using Prisma Colored Pencils.  Pam T. taught me how to use them during a crop and i had to immediately get my own set.  I feel like a kid when I'm coloring all the stamp designs that CTMH has to offer.  So fun!

How about you?  Who or what inspires you?  How do you get your creative juices flowing?  I would love to hear a few of your comments.

Allow me to introduce to you....The Lighthearted Lovlies!

Today was the Close To My Heart's Lighthearted Lovelies Team Meet. We meet once a month, usually @ McAllister's Deli, to encourage and inspire one another.  I receive so much out of these gatherings!

Everyone on our team is so creative!  Take a look at some of the artwork on display this month!

We were suprised with a special gift from one of our talented team members, Pam Walsh.  She made each of us a name-tag brooch!  So pretty!
Here's the one I chose....love the blues and the little rose in the center...oh and the ribbon!  Oh my!  I'll have to try this too!

Each month an award is given for the consultant who does something that may be a little hard for her to do.  The hard thing can be different for each person depending on the personality.  This month's Steppin' Out Award goes to...Judy Faye!  Judy Faye now has her artwork displayed in a local shop with information about her upcoming workshops and gatherings!  Wooohoo Judy Faye!

This month's creative challenge was from Mel.  Mel shared with us how to make this adorable Peek-a Boo card.  So sweet!  Mel went the extra mile and cut all those little pieces out for us!  Now that's what I call dedication!
Here's a close up shot...Isn't it cute!

Can you see why I love going to our Lovelies Team Meet?  I come home inspired and ready to go!  Speaking of that...I better get going.  I have some paper crafting to do!

If you are interested in learning more about any of the products shown you can e-mail me.  I will be happy to share with you.  Also if you would like to browse a catalog for Close To My Heart products check out my website http://beccasplace.myctmh.com/

16 Page Workshop Pics with Lucky Paper Pack

What a great day we had @ the Bullard Community Library!  I conduct a monthly Scrapbook Workshop there on the 3rd Saturday of each month.  Usually we complete a 4 page layouts (complete with stamping and embellishments) and learn a couple of techniques.

This month we complete a 16 pages!  (yes I said 16!) We used the Lucky Level 2 Paper Pack from Close to My Heart.  Everyone who came completed their 16 pages and was amazed that they could get so much done in such a short time period.  We even stopped for an 1 hour lunch break!

If you would like to get your own Lucky Level 2 Paper Pack and complete a workshop on your own, you can order you kit through MyCTMH site (check out the side bar on this blog) and let me know.  I will be happy to get the cutting diagrams and layouts suggestions to you ;)

Next month's workshop will feature Mayberry.  You can check that out on my website, too.     Mark your calendars for April 16th!

Wings Workshop Page

Last month at the Bullard Community Library we completed and 4 scrapbook pages using Close To My Heart's Wings Paper Pack.  These are two that we did while we were there.

I usually try to teach a couple of techniques.  One is the paper roses....I search youtube until i found one i liked and went with it.  I was pleased with how they turned out and workshop attendees liked them too.
Another technique I taught was "hidden journaling".  This is a featured technique in Magic, CTMH's exclusive how to book.  Do you like to make cards but can never mail enough out? Turn them into "hidden journaling" boxes for your pages.

Next month's workshop we will put together 16 pages from Lucky.

Heart To Heart Challenge- Home Decor

I made so many of these rosettes that i didn't know what to do with them all, yes i enjoyed playing with my martha stewart score board and i absolutely love the Wings paper from Close To My Heart....but wait!  I can make a wall decor peice out of them!  Yes, and of course feature my darling grandkids, so here is the end result.  I'm happy with the peice and have even started adding coffee filter flowers to the center of them now.   I used this one today to top off a birthday gift for a dear neighbor.
